PWI: All Systems Go for MARS Launch Pad™

Red Bank, N.J., -- January 23, 2002. PWI, Inc., a provider of advanced technology solutions in communications and analytics, today announced the availability of the MARS Launch Pad.

With Launch Pad, PWI is bundling application development services with its Metering, Analysis and Reporting Studio (MARS™) that has recently been expanded to include a library of pre-designed reports essential to messaging systems administrators.

Launch Pad is the first commercially available alternative for companies contemplating a build versus buy solution to address their messaging infrastructure reporting and analysis needs. By offering the service at a low fixed-price to companies that are hosting or managing Microsoft® Exchange 2000, PWI is helping them to fully address the business intelligence and reporting needs that are specific to their individual businesses.

MARS, which was officially launched in November, is the first and only business intelligence framework developed specifically to deliver high-performance reporting of provisioning, usage, security and network performance data within advanced communications environments such as Microsoft® Exchange 2000.

"In the current business environment, it's difficult to see the ROI benefit in building a proprietary reporting solution", said Greg Salvato, Chairman and CEO of PWI. "Licensing a reporting suite is a better approach. However, companies are finding that while they're getting access to extensive report libraries, they're only really using a dozen or so of the reports that are available to them. This means they're effectively paying for 100% of the product and utilizing only 20% of its capabilities. The economic benefits of that model are fuzzy because the total cost of ownership is so skewed", continued Salvato.

Powered by Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2000 Analysis Services, and PWI formulated data collection agents, transfer services and MDX queries, MARS™ can be rapidly and flexibly tailored to empower intelligent decision making for the diverse functional areas of corporate enterprises.

"With Launch Pad, we're responding to client feedback that told us we could simplify the buying process by offering a unique packaging of our services. The pre-designed report library that comes with MARSSM covers about 80% of a company's typical reporting needs. The remaining 20% is filled by applying the consulting services we include as part of the package to the task of customizing the solution based on the unique needs of the client", said Salvato. "What we're doing is offering a complete solution that addresses 100% of a company's reporting needs in a predictable and low-cost manner", he concluded.

The training that PWI provides as part of the Launch Pad offering enables users to quickly and easily design their own reports as new business intelligence needs arise. This capability further differentiates the MARS Launch Pad™ as a scaleable and flexible solution that easily adapts to changing business conditions and information needs.
