June 13, 2003 - Privacyware Introduces ThreatSentry — Breakthrough Threat Prevention Solution for Microsoft Web Servers

RED BANK, NJ, June 13, 2003 -- Privacyware, the leader in advanced threat prevention and security intelligence solutions, has released ThreatSentry version 1.0, a threat prevention and management solution for Windows Web servers. Exceptionally easy to deploy and use, ThreatSentry is an advanced neural application that combines modeled metrics and machine learning to deliver unsurpassed protection from known and undocumented network threats and other misuse.

Using a complex automated learning process, a knowledge-base of documented exploits, and an analysis model specifically designed for Microsoft® Internet Information Services (IIS), ThreatSentry continuously collects, analyzes and organizes server events to create an evolving baseline of acceptable activity. Each server connection is compared against this adaptive baseline to identify and prevent any activity falling outside of acceptable parameters. ThreatSentry is configurable to prevent suspicious connections, block untrusted IPs, generate error code responses, or stop web services entirely. ThreatSentry also generates Security Alerts that can be displayed centrally or locally on screen or sent via pager or cellular phone. Intuitive management interfaces enable administrators to easily adjust event classifications to achieve progressively enhanced system accuracy.

ThreatSentry supports single or multiple server environments and protects against an array of documented exploitive techniques including Directory Traversal, Parameter Manipulation, Buffer Overflow, Parser Evasion, High-bit Shellcode, Printer Protocol, and Remote Data Services, but also stops any unusual activity falling outside acceptable patterns of use.

“The ability to apply cognitive reasoning to the identification of threatening activity delivers protection where solutions that are solely signature or rules-based are limited,” stated Privacyware CEO, Greg Salvato. “Risks related to lapses in patch management, configuration errors, and the use of new and progressive attack techniques are significantly decreased when ThreatSentry is deployed.”
