PWI Announces Partnership, Leverages Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System for Globally Distributed Software Development Project

RED BANK, NJ—November 7, 2005—PWI, Inc., a leader in globally distributed custom software development services, today announced that they have established a strategic partnership with ZI Solutions, an IT software development company, to design and build ALC’s core data acquisition and management application with a new generation system based on the Microsoft .NET Framework. PWI and ZI will jointly coordinate and manage a local project management team that will be extended by technical resources delivered through PWI’s Moscow-based development facility. The project team will leverage the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System.

“PWI is pleased to announce this strategic alliance with ZI and an exciting client engagement with ALC” said PWI CEO Greg Salvato. “PWI’s globally distributed operation, software process methodology and programming capabilities, and expertise in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 are a perfect complement to ZI’s expertise in staffing, software development and project management. The partnership and delivery model promise extraordinary cost and predictability benefits for clients and is ideal for large-scale projects like the ALC initiative.”

ALC’s existing software is the most critical system running at ALC. It was developed over twenty-five years ago and has been extensively modified over that period to meet the changing needs of ALC’s business.  The system incorporates a wide array of functionality, which is primarily comprised of Order Entry, Accounting and Reporting. Each day there are hundreds of users of the system spread across various departments and partner facilities in multiple locations in the US and around the world.

“We conducted a comprehensive prototype development phase to determine the right vendor for this project,” commented ALC CTO Jason Rembert. “Our selection criteria included a number of key factors such as; competency in the relevant technologies, ability to overcome challenges and achieve defined goals, team chemistry and competitive pricing, among many others.  Aside from their overall performance during the prototype phase, we were impressed with the software process and project management methodologies, attention to detail, and breadth and depth in capabilities that the ZI/PWI partnership offered ALC.”

To optimize the productivity and predictability of the Software Development Life Cycle and to further systematize their existing engagement methodology, PWI, a Microsoft Certified Partner, selected the Visual Studio 2005 Team System as the central collaboration and process guidance platform for the project.

“ALC wrote the book on data compilation and management services for competitive customer acquisition.” stated ZI CEO Brian Zecher. “Our objective in this strategic initiative is to create a robust, highly scalable, state-of-the-art system that will empower ALC employees, enhance the impact and value derived by ALC customers, and enable ALC to more dramatically extend its dominance in the industry.”

PWI is focused on providing clients with access to specialized skills and competencies that enhance their application development capabilities. Led by client and project management operations in the U.S., and fueled with Russia's finest programming resources, PWI is committed to providing expertise and engineering talents that help clients innovate and generate measurable business value.
