PWI Announces Completion and Production Rollout of IEEE
Workflow Application
RED BANK, NJ—July 15, 2008—PWI, Inc., (http://www.pwicorp.com)
a provider software design, programming and support services
today announced the completion and production rollout of a
custom software application for the IEEE (Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.). PWI was
selected in October of 2007 to build a new Fellows Scoring
Program that would deliver a flexible and intuitive
mechanism by which judges may submit evaluation scores for
IEEE Fellow candidates.
The IEEE Fellows Scoring Program is an
integrated component of the Enhanced IEEE Fellow Nomination
Process and enables judges to enter and analyze scores for
multiple nominees within a single view as opposed to the
single nominee entry capability that existed in the Lotus
Notes based application previously in production. Improved
ease-of-use, efficiency and flexibility comprise the primary
business case factors that drove the software development
initiative. The new program also ensures improved fairness
and accuracy in the Fellows candidates scoring process.
According to PWI CTO, Dr. Konstantin Malkov,
the IEEE Fellows Scoring Application leverages a combination
of Java-based technologies. “Utilizing the Sun Java Studio
Enterprise development platform,
PWI will deliver a three tier Java-based application
supporting the BEA WebLogic
application server platform. The Front End is browser-based
and utilizes Java Server Faces (JSF) and Asynchronous
JavaScript and XML (Ajax). The middle tier was constructed
using the Java Spring Framework, JSF beans and Hibernate.
Oracle 9i was selected to support the
Database tier,” he explained.
“We are delighted to help deliver this
important initiative for IEEE,” said Greg Salvato, PWI CEO.
“The solution provides a more efficient and equitable
platform for IEEE Fellows to evaluate
candidates
and demonstrates PWI’s ability to provide high value
business process and workflow solutions to increasingly
demanding professional organizations.”
The software development
initiative began in October of 2007. PWI provided software
design (requirements and technical specification),
development, testing, and Quality Assurance services. The
Fellows Scoring Application was project was completed on
time (within nine months) and within budget and installed
into the IEEE production environment in early July.
