PWI Launches MARS
Business Intelligence Framework for Enterprise Messaging.
November 29, 2001 - PWI, Inc., a provider of solutions
for advanced communications and analytics today launched the
Metering, Analysis and Reporting Studio (MARS) and announced
that United Messaging is its first client to use MARS
in a live production environment.
United Messaging provides outsourced
messaging and collaboration services to large and mid-sized
enterprises.
MARS, first introduced
at Microsofts MEC 2001 conference in Orlando on September
30, is the first and only business intelligence framework
developed specifically to deliver high-performance reporting
of provisioning, usage, security and network performance data
within advanced communications environments.
Powered by Microsoft® SQL
Server 2000 Analysis Services, and PWI formulated data
collection agents, transfer services and MDX queries, MARS
can be rapidly and flexibly tailored to empower intelligent
decision making for the diverse functional areas of Application
Service Providers and corporate enterprises.
We were looking for two
things, said Don Montgomery, Director of Product Marketing
for United Messaging. First, was a solution to provide
us with new insights across multiple functional areas of our
business. Second, was the need for an analysis and reporting
capability that would also be flexible enough to respond to
new business intelligence needs as our business expands,
continued Montgomery.
As a charter client for MARS,
United Messaging took advantage of the opportunity to shape
a solution that would address their specific business intelligence
and reporting needs. United Messaging provided us with
some very useful insights on the functional requirements for
MARS, said Konstantin Malkov, Ph.D., President
and Chief Technology Officer for PWI. Attendees at MEC provided
PWI with validation that the architectural design and functional
utility of MARS were on track with the broader set of
industry needs. More importantly, we found that MARS
was unique in its ability to empower the end user and allow
them to flexibly mange their own ad hoc business intelligence
needs, continued Malkov.
PWI had already established
themselves as a value-added partner for United Messaging and
we knew they would get the job done in a way that would best
leverage our IT budget, said Montgomery.
Up until now, companies looking
to satisfy their metering, analysis and reporting needs would
either purchase and integrate a packaged product suite or
commission the development of a custom solution. MARS
is a reusable framework and an integral part of the complete
and advanced communications solutions PWI provides its clients.
